THE DIVINE BANKER

Many of the “Baby-boomers” are now looking forward to retirement, and are anxiously watching the stock market to see how their IRAs are doing. It is a prudent thing to do; planning how you will live in retirement, but how about your final retirement? What kind of life will you have then, and more importantly, where will you spend it?

II Tim 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Mat 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Intro: For I know (recognize by sight) whom I have believed (Placed my trust in) and am persuaded (convinced by evidence) that He is able (Powerful enough) to keep (guard by isolation) that which I have committed (deposited) unto Him against (until) that day.

Earthly banks fail- whether we deposit our money in savings, checking or our valuables in a safety deposit box, there is an element of risk.
I Fact - A Depository of Heaven and the divine watchman
A. First thought is a safe place for the soul. - Keep this man
I Kgs 20:39 And as the king passed by, he cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver.

John 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

1, A peculiar people - (Peculiar - belonging uniquely to someone.)
Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
We are a peculiar people, not strange nor odd, ( though no doubt, many think so) but rather the sole property of the one who redeemed us.

2. Our life is hid with Christ in God -

Col 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

B. We deposit our soul and withdraw life.
John 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

C. We deposit our life;
Mat 19:27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

1. Earth is not a safe place to deposit our life
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

2. Satan hath desired to have you.

Lu 22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

3. Count all things but loss-
Phil 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

4. For me to live is Christ
Phil 1 ;21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

D. Withdraw rewards and blessings
Mat 19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

E. Deposit our efforts to study Heavenly things.
II Tim 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

F. Withdraw Divine Truth
Col. 1:26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
John 7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

G. We must commit our family to Him

Josh 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

H. We commit our means to Him
I Cor 9:13 Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

I. We Withdraw blessings untold
Mal 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Lu 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
