A LAMB
FOR A HOUSE

Text:
Exo 12:3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In
the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb,
according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:

Introduction;
Let us consider the relationship of the entire family to God.

I. The
Family and God.

A.
The family is God's idea and is a divine institution.

B.
The family has always been connected with the blood of sacrifice.

1.
Adam and Eve. Gen 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the
LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

2.
Noah and family. Gen 8:18 And Noah went forth, and his sons,
and his wife, and his sons' wives with him:

8:19 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and
whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out
of the ark.

Gen
8:20 And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every
clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on
the altar.

Gen
8:21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his
heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for
the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I
again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

Abraham and Isaac. Gen 22:8 And Abraham said, My son, God
will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both
of them together.

22:13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind
him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took
the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his
son.

Philippian jailor. Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the
Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

II.
Consider the family without a lamb and the implications.

A.
They had no promise of deliverance.

B.
They had a house doomed to sorrow. Exo 12:29 And it came to
pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land
of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto
the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the
firstborn of cattle.

Exo
12:30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants,
and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there
was not a house where there was not one dead.

C.
A home without Christ has no savior. The hardest funeral a preacher
is called upon to conduct is when death hits such a home.

III.
Consider the family with the Passover slain and the blood applied.

A.
Rejoicing in the midst of sorrow.

B.
In the midst of condemnation, a promise of deliverance. Exo
12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses
where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the
plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of
Egypt.

IV.
Behold the Lamb of God. John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus
coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh
away the sin of the world.

A.
Our heavenly father has provided the Lamb. John 3:16 For God
so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting
life.

B.
He was found to be without blemish. Luke 23:4 Then said
Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in
this man.

C.
He was cut off from his flock.

D.
His blood was shed for deliverance from sin. 1 John 1:7 But
if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship
one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us
from all sin.

E.
The whole family is blessed when dad and mom trust and apply the
blood.
